Angie's Bunnies

Our adoptables aren't the only bunnies we care for! Angie, our fearless leader, also has her own personal pet bunnies. Our site wouldn't be complete without pictures and stories of these wonderful buns!

Winnie the Pooh & Leo

Winnie is the little one!

Winnie & Leo are an older, long-bonded couple. Winnie is teeeeeeny weenie! She's under two pounds, and super duper cute. And Leo is her faithful admirer and protector. They are both starting to show their age a bit, and we're taking extra special care of them to make sure they stay happy and comfortable as the years go by.

Gilby

Gilby is our little blind-and-deaf lovebug. He also has a head tilt, so he certainly has his share of challenges. He's a great example of a special needs bunny who could not have found a home anywhere else. Gilby has a happy life hanging out in his pen, where he has plenty of space to stretch out and relax, and enjoy his food, followed by visits to his special litterbox (we cut down the sides to make it easy for Gilby to get in and out). He also enjoys being held and snuggled by our very willing volunteers. Gilby may look a little bedraggled in this photo, but that's because we gave him a haircut. He has long glorious fur, but it gets easily matted.

Gilby is not a good candidate for being bonded for with another bunny--he's got a big personality and does better on his own. But he does love the company of his stuffed froggie. And he loves to...ahem...express his love to his froggie. Froggie doesn't seem to mind.

Calvin

Do YOU pass inspection?Hark! I hear a banana!

Capn' Calvin! Ready for takeoff!Calvin playing outside, where he is the king of binkies!

Calvin looking much rounder than he is.

Apply head rub here.Well, if you have a banana, you just might pass inspection. Or a shredded wheat. Or some head pets, if he is in the mood. Calvin is our little firecracker...he's got gorgeous bright white fur, which has a sort of wavy texture that makes it extra special. Calvin can be a little unpredictable, which is why he's a permanent resident. Having said that, he's also a total lovebug, and everyone who meets him falls in love with him, and learns to take care and approach him exactly the right way. Soon, we'll find Calvin a little lady bunny to bond with.

IceMan & Annie

Icy-buttIcy's gaping jaws of doomIt's a trap! Don't fall for the cuteness!Beware, flying shark-bun! IceMan, or Icy, is a teeny tiny shark in a bunny suit. He loves

other bunnies, but seems to DETEST people. We have to hang signs on his pen to warn people not to put their hands anywhere near him, because he will launch himself into the air and bite and not let go.

Meanwhile, he's about the cutest little fluff-pot you've ever seen. That's right, he's around 1.5 pounds of deadly softness. It's just not fair at all. He's so stinkin' cute that you just want to snuggle him, or at least pet him...but NO. Don't even think about it.

On the other hand, Icy loves other bunnies. He's bonded to sweet little Annie, who he loves completely. They get to come out and run around, even if there are other bunnies out. But beware...and watch your ankles.

See? Iceman simply isn't fair. He gets all round and cute and you just want to pet him and snuggle him...but if you don't have insurance, we wouldn't recommend it. Sigh. This little guy is a shark in a bunny suit. Two pounds of sheer terror. But he loves bunnies. And we love him.

Boo

Grouchy BooInquisitive BooBoo-in-a-bagBoo-out-of-a-bagBoo being Boo-ishBoo is the queen bee of Special Bunny and of Angie's home. From her palatial x-pen in the living room, she rules the roost. Boo is unbelievably cute...we have all tried to analyze her cuteness. Some believe it comes from her lack of a neck, others think it's all due to her airplane ears, yet others believe it's the tilted way she examines everyone from her position on the floor.

Boo was bonded to Jimmy and Herman. She was with Jimmy from the time we rescued him, and then Herman showed up and she had a torrid affair with him behind the couch. Herman was a mellow dude, and he got along with Jimmy also, so they made a wonderful threesome, caring for each other together.

Jimmy and Herman are gone now, and Boo seems to be fine on her own. We keep thinking that she will want a new boyfriend, but she seems to be 'over' that and prefers to remain solo. She makes her opinion known, and gets thoroughly pissed off when other bunnies are allowed to run around in the living room (which means she's pissed off a lot of the time.) As we all know, there's not a lot cuter than an annoyed bunny. She lives a happy, healthy life and enjoys being admired by everyone who visits.

Roo

ROO! Roo's motto is 'food food food FOOD FOOD FOOD hey you got any FOOD?" This gorgeous girl lives in Angie's office and 'helps' Angie work from home. She's a rex bunny, so she's prone to foot issues. We have her in a special needs setup complete with a nice fuzzy for a floor. It wicks moisture away from her paws (she's not the greatest when it comes to litterbox usage) and keeps her feet healthy.

Roo has significant dental issues. She's prone to tooth problems and oral abcesses, which we keep careful track of. We love her gorgeous face and funny, fun-loving personality. She was bonded with Jasper, who we lost a little over a year ago. She misses him still, as we all do. In fact, she misses him so much that she turns up her nose at any other bunny companion, and prefers to live on her own.

Roo with her beloved Jasper.

Pumpkin & Chloe

You're right, these aren't bunnies! Chloe and Pumpkin are our rescued kitties. They were considered special needs too...way back when Angie adopted them. She went into the shelter and said 'give me the two most unadoptable kitties you have' and she ended up with these two. Who are clearly...um...amazing. Just like our special bunnies, all it took was a little time and attention, and these two blossomed into the great pets - and great sports - they are today. These ladies are about as tolerant as they are snuggly...they think the world is supposed to be full of bunnies who rule the house. Check out our success story about Everest to see just how awesome these kitties turned out to be.

We lost Chloe in 2012, and we'll always miss her. She was a little crazy, but hey, who isn't.
