Health Warning: Rabbit Hemorrhagic Virus (RHV) Outbreak in Vancouver

Effective immediately, Special Bunny is temporarily suspending intake of feral and outdoor rabbits until we can better assess the extent of the British Columbia rabbit hemorrhagic disease outbreak. Officials have confirmed at least one location in the lower mainland, on Annacis Island near Surrey.

If you plan to visit our shelter and have recently traveled to Vancouver, please contact us so we can advise you about protective steps to take.

We strongly advise all WA State bunny families in the north Sound to review these BC SPCA (BCSPCA) guidelines. RHV is NOT dangerous to people or other pets. If your bunnies suddenly become ill, please contact your rabbit-savvy vet asap. The Pet Rabbits of Washington Facebook group is monitoring and reporting out information as we learn more.
